sixb0nes AAR – Operation Doppelganger (Part #1)

by sixb0nes

Scouts: Mr.Shiney, sixb0nes, Disco_Dante and walther
Opposition: London and Toronto teams, mixed

Location was Adrenaline Paintball. We had a large potion of the field available during the day with some ballers coming on a little later in the day. Weather was absolutely perfect. Mr.Shiney was a great host – with some gun troubles causing a few hiccups. Other than that, it was a stellar day.

Scenario 1 – Capture the Briefcase. Outcome: minor failure

The idea of this was to find and capture the briefcase (unknown location to both teams). 1 CSSR stuck together and worked around the left flank both searching for the briefcase and intercepting any contacts. First engagement came with Mr.Shiney, walther and sixb0nes. I feel the way we handled this engagement was perfect. Everyone ducked off the path to cover immediately, and we scored a number of kills hidden in the brush as they were very loud and easy to locate. Unfortunately, Shiney and I had a hard “no walk zone” directly to our left so we were esentially stuck there – luckily the enemy was killed or retreated. The call then came down that the briefcase was now in enemy hands and we had to change focus on getting it back.

The enemy lined up along the outside of the treeline and it was quite difficult to break through. Most of the various efforts were unsuccessful. One of the final pushes out into the marshmallows was the one I wanted to key on. We pushed a little harder than we had been and managed to move at least halfway through the field before losing people. Nicely done.

Learned: Push hard to advance.

Scenario 2 – Capture the Fort. Outcome: minor failure

I want to preface this with the fact the enemy was unaware of the respawn rule and did so infinitely (instead of 3). This might help account for some of the problems we had advancing.

I thought our first push to get the rocket launcher on the door was our best effort as a team. We pushed, got our guy into position and successully hit the door within only a couple of tries. From there, the entire team had difficulties gaining ground. At one point I managed to get to the rear of the structure unnoticed and scored at least 2 VERY satisfying kills on unsuspecting victims. Walther attempted to move up with me but was struck by a sniper en route. Had he made it, we may have had a chance at a rear entry into the fort.

Learned: Move in moments of opportunity.

sixb0nes AAR – Finch’s Field (Part #1)

by sixb0nes

Scouts: Mr.Shiney, OliveDrab, KiloSixNiner, TraumaGuy, Forever_Kaos, myself (sixb0nes) and Kilo’s brother Joey.
Opposition: ~10 Vietnam Reenactors and a 4 man sniper team.

This was a new field for over half of the Scouts, so it took a few rounds to get our bearings. The reports here are from my perspective and knowledge of what happened.

From a summary standpoint, I thought things went very well. Our missions were oft at the disadvantage, which has given us some appreciation of what to expect against a well organized and practiced team. When it was our turn to hold down the position, I thought we did extremely well and held our own against a large attacking force.

Excercise 1 – Advance to contact against Sniper team. Outcome: failure
Scouts were split into 3 dets. Position of enemy was unknown. Total loss. Unknown terrain and chokepoints lead to a quick end for unsuspecting Scouts. Very little time to react via comms before team was down.

Learned: Slow down in unknown territory.

Excercise 2 – Advance to contact against Sniper team. Outcome: minor success
Scouts split into same dets. Position of enemy was relatively known. Knowledge of the terrain used for a successful flank of sniper positions. Attempt for a single det to rush was a complete loss. Communications were handled properly, with overwatch on left flank for cover fire.

Learned: Keep quiet. Too much chatter and movement on flank. Enemy was alterted to position before we arrived.

FTX – Enemy in the open!

by sixb0nes

Looking forward to heading to FF as I haven’t been there before. Should be quite the trek though as the drive is a little longer than usual. Weather forecast is of course calling for 100% chance of rain and cloud cover for the full day. Bring your smocks!

I’m coming with a tightbore 6.03, new hopup and SCS nub (if Canada Post is timely, mind you). Time to put them all to the test!
